Be Internet Legends Day
This week (Thursday 9th December), Key Stage Two pupils took part in a fun and interactive zoom assembly from ‘The Internet Legends’. Pupils werereminded of the skills that they need to be safe and confident explorers of the online world. They alsolooked at the 5 key rules to keep safe online, before designing their own Internet Legends posters!
Having conversations about online safety helps make all of us Internet Legends!
Let’s talk! Internet safety is everyone’s responsibility and talking about it makes us all more comfortable and more equipped to deal with the online world.
1. Encourage children to ask questions whenever they want, about whatever topic they want.
2. Show interest in the apps and sites your children use the most and ask for a tour. Find out how they use them and what they like about them.
3. Set clear family rules and expectations around technology and let children know these may change as they get older.
We all have a role to play – use advice, tools and resources from the NSPCC Online Safety Hub at https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/online-safety to help keep your child safe online.
If you are worried about something you have seen online or someone acted inappropriately towards your child online, visit the ThinkUKnow (an education programme from the National Crime Agency’s CEOP Command) website at https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents/
