ICT Nerve Centre Partnership

5th Dec 2021

Our staff have just completed stage one of the Nerve Primary Partnership Programme. Stage one was the “Empower” phase, this stage started in August and has just finished on 1st December. The overall aim is to empower teachers and build capacity within schools to use technology creatively to support teaching and learning.
Staff from P1-P7 worked strategically with the partnership to ensure ICT is at the heart of the school’s development plan and to allow our school to sustainably grow our use of creative technologies across the curriculum of the whole school.

Phase one of the partnership developed ICT competencies, empowered staff to use digital tools and create engaging and stimulating teaching and learning resources.  Through the partnership we have availed of;
 Staff training opportunities
 Targeted teacher professional development
 ICT coordinator and principal support
 Support for classroom implementation
 Opportunity to share good practice with other
schools.

Benefits to pupils;
 Develop pupil skills and competencies in creativity,
digital literacies and UICT
 Encourage pupils to become critical thinkers,
creators and makers
 Provide opportunities for pupils to express
themselves
 Grows confidence and communication skills.
 Enhances creativity, teamwork and TS&PC

Staff completed four CPL modules in the following apps;
Mentimeter – Mentimeter is an interactive presentation tool
that helps to engage students and enables every voice in a
classroom. It can be used to gauge student comprehension,
test knowledge retention or as a fun way to break up
learning.

Flipgrid – Flipgrid is a video tool that allows teachers to
post “Topics” that are essentially videos with some
accompanying text. This is then shared with students, who
can be prompted to respond. The response can be made
using the software’s camera to create videos that are then
posted to the original Topic. These videos can be recorded
as many times as needed before uploading, and can have
the addition of emoji, text, stickers, drawings, or custom
stickers.

Adobe Sparks Video – Adobe Spark for Education is a
powerful visual graphic tool that helps teachers and
students create images, videos, web pages, and more. It’s a
great way to present information both by teachers to the
class and by students as part of projects.

Google Slides – Slides enables teachers to create engaging
and interactive presentations.

Here are just a few snippets from some of the fantastic
interactive resources our teachers have created to use in
their classrooms recently.
