Patterns and Sequences

11th Apr 2025

Over the past few weeks, we have been exploring the concepts of patterns and sequences. A pattern can be defined as a repeated arrangement of numbers, shapes, colours, and so on. To make this concept more engaging, we linked it to dance moves. In small groups, the students collaborated to create a sequence of simple dance moves. The challenge was for each group to present their ‘rule’, which the other groups then had to follow and apply in their own dance routines. This activity not only encouraged creativity and teamwork but also reinforced the understanding of sequences in a fun and energetic manner. It was delightful to see our pupils embracing these concepts with such enthusiasm! In addition to the practical application of patterns, we also delved into triangular number sequences. The children were tasked with continuing the series of triangular numbers and decoding a hidden message by matching these numbers with corresponding letters. This exercise enhanced their analytical skills and added an element of mystery and excitement.  Watch the last video to see what the hidden message was.
