Wheelie Big Challenge

The Eco-committee had a very informative discussion with Aodhán from Eco-Schools. He discussed how long it takes different materials to break down and how to correctly use each bin. We started the challenge by choosing 3 different general waste bins within the school and separating the waste into recyclables, food waste and general waste. We then weighed the amount of waste within each of these categories and recorded the results. Generally, our bins were being used correctly however, there was still room for progress as we found both food waste and recyclable waste in the general waste bins. We will remind all classes about what to put in each bin and repeat this process again after mid-term to check the progress of our bin use. We hope to junky find general waste in these bins.
